Social Ministry
Food on the Fifth:
St. Paul members contribute canned goods and other food items on the 5th Sunday of January, April, July, October and December. The food is taken to Southeast Ministries which is housed at Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
St. Paul congregation also participates in the ELCA World Hunger Appeal as well as other relief efforts in the Baton Rouge area and around the world.
Blood Drive:
St. Paul Lutheran Church continues to hold blood donor drives on site in cooperation with United Blood Services of Baton Rouge. We have been able to assist in meeting the needs for blood within our community. We have also been able to provide replacement blood "credits" to members who may need blood. The next blood drive is October 22, 2006.
Adopt a Child Program:
Members of St. Paul contribute supplies and funds enabling students to start the school year with the necessary materials.
Christmas Gifts:
Members of St. Paul furnish toys and clothing for children in need.
Congregation-to-Congregation (CTC):
The CTC is a committee made up of six people each from St. Paul Lutheran and Elm Grove Baptist churches. The purpose of the committee is to facilitate mutual acquaintance and understanding through gatherings for worship and to celebrate God in fellowship and service projects between the two Christian groups of predominately different races and denominations.
Adopt-a-School
St. Paul partners with Elm Grove Baptist to provide assistance at Dalton Elementary School. Members serve as reading buddies, provide snacks during preparations for LEAP tests, support teachers and staff and provide help for other school activites.
Habitat for Humanity:
St. Paul members assist in the building of homes for low-income families.
Sister Congregation:
St. Paul Lutheran Church rejoices with The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Baton Rouge, gathering with them for special worship
services and workshops.
